Explore the elements of trauma-informed practice and learn mindfulness techniques specifically designed to manage trauma symptoms.
Symptoms of PTSD and other trauma-related difficulties can be extremely distressing for sufferers.
On this six-week course, you’ll examine Trauma-informed Mindfulness, a unique approach to managing trauma symptoms, developed by a leading expert in trauma from Bethlehem Tertiary Institute (BTI).
Using practices designed to avoid trigger reactions in trauma sufferers, you’ll learn to create a safe environment using short, structured exercises that are suitable for adults, veterans, and young people.
You’ll explore the five dimensions of safety as they relate to the environment, body, relationship, process, and culture.
With this knowledge, you’ll be able to adapt your current practices and identify areas for improvement, using key terminology and theory to justify your approach.
Taking a deep dive into the TIM model framework, you’ll investigate the underpinning theory, combining current concepts of psychological trauma and mindfulness. You’ll then explore techniques to help clients develop self-compassion, patience, and courage to aid their progress.
Having been guided through the model, you’ll be able to clearly demonstrate the framework to clients, allowing them to understand their journey towards better symptom management.
Using the skills you’ve developed throughout this course, you’ll plan and create your own mindfulness program that supports clients on a one-to-one level.
By the end of this course, you’ll understand the TIM model and be able to use its framework to aid trauma sufferers manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
