Course Description

Understand what is meant by business sustainability


Sustainability aims to meet the needs of today without compromising future generations’ ability to meet theirs. For businesses, it’s important to not only focus on the growth of profit but also the concepts of green and sustainable development. This is known as corporate sustainability.


On this six-week course, you’ll be introduced to the United Nations’ SDGs and how you can use them as a blueprint for sustainable corporate development. You’ll be given specific methods to move towards a sustainable enterprise and how to implement SDGs in your business strategy.


You’ll gain an understanding of how companies can create profits and be responsible for the interests of investors and, at the same time, assume social responsibilities for employees, society, and the environment.


Gain an introduction to sustainable finance


You’ll start by exploring sustainable financial development to help develop an understanding of sustainable and responsible investing.


Through this exploration, you’ll discover the challenges of sustainable investing in your country and the use of AI for sustainable finance.


Explore a sustainable supply chain


Next, you’ll discover sustainability within a supply chain.


Exploring case studies, you’ll discover how businesses can best face the challenges of sustainability to create a responsible supply chain.


Understand the financial foundation of corporate sustainability


On the final weeks of the course, you’ll unpack the financial foundation of corporate sustainability to learn how to balance between social and financial goals.


You’ll also explore how corporate sustainability interlinks with the environment and how businesses can identify ecological impacts, balance resources, and minimise any environmental impacts.


This course is designed for those interested in corporate sustainability research and wants to engage in business sustainability.


It will also be of interest for students who are interested in business development, financial issues, and sustainable development issues.

      Taipei Medical University (TMU), 600 meters away from the world’s tallest green building - Taipei 101 building, has been a leader in Taiwan’s healthcare system for more than half a century due to its research, teaching excellence, internationalization and outstanding medical service. TMU has seven colleges including College of Medicine, College of Oral Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Public Health and Nutrition, College of Nursing, College of Medical Science and Technology and College of Humanities and Social Sciences and owns three Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited hospitals with a total capacity of over 3,100 beds. TMU and its three JCI hospitals are the largest and one of the best healthcare systems in the Taipei Metropolitan Area.

      TMU leads in quite a few research areas including Cancer, Translational Medicine, Neuroregenerative Medicine, Biomedical Devices and Tissue Engineering, Reproductive Medicine and Biomedical Informatics. TMU has several top-notch research centers such as Center of Excellence for Cancer Research, Center of Excellence for Clinical Trial and Research in Neuroscience, Center of Excellence for Stroke Research, Center of Excellence for Biomedical Implants and Microsurgery Devices. TMU collaborates with many international prestigious universities and institutes on cancer, neurotrauma, nanotechnology and 3D printing research such as National Institutes of Health, Johns Hopkins University, University of Southampton, University of Dundee, University of Liverpool, Aarhus University, University of Washington, University of Tokyo, Academia Sinica, and National Health Research Institutes.

      TMU’s commitment to internationalisation has resulted in 36,000 alumni improving healthcare systems in over100 countries around the world. More than 5,500 students from over 31 countries are enrolled in TMU’s seven colleges, and most master’s degree and doctoral programs offer instruction in English. The permanent appointment of the university’s medical teams to assist two African nations (Swaziland and Sao Tome and Principe) provides opportunities for service and learning as well as enhancing Taiwan’s health diplomacy.

      • Being unenrolled from a course, learning program or degree program; or

      • Termination of your use of the App and/or Site.

      • Additional actions may be taken at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica and eLearnAfrica course providers. 

      No refunds will be issued in the case of any corrective action for such violations.

      Honor code violations will be determined at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica, the Partners, or Members. You will be notified if a determination has been made that you have violated this honor code and you will be informed of the corresponding action to be taken as a result of the violation.
