Course Description

Understand how artificial intelligence is shaping our future


From our workplaces to our homes, AI can now be found in all aspects of our lives. On this four-week course, you’ll delve into the applications of AI technology and how it is affecting the future of four key areas.


You’ll start by discovering intelligent systems, where you’ll explore neural networks, genetic algorithms and particle swarm optimization. Next, you’ll discover deep learning, as you learn how self-flying drones are trained using VR.


You’ll then explore the use of AI in sustainable fisheries management before considering the use of machine learning for finding clinical data patterns for forecasting models.


Explore machine learning basics


To help you understand more about AI applications, you’ll gain an introduction to the basics of machine learning.


With this knowledge , you’ll unpack deep learning and the potential for robots, autonomous vehicles, and drones in the future.


Discover how AI can promote sustainable fishing


On week three of the course, you’ll explore how AI can help develop sustainable fisheries.


You’ll gain an introduction to different fishery management types before discovering the applications of AI to make fisheries management more sustainable.


Learn from the experts at Taipei Medical University


On the final week of the course, you’ll gain an understanding of AI image analytics. You’ll learn more about deep learning as you explore the MRI analysis method and how AI can help prevent or diagnose certain diseases.


Guided by the experts at Taipei Medical University, you’ll finish the course with the knowledge of key applications of AI technology and how it is shaping our future.


This course is designed for those with some prior knowledge in AI algorithms. Basic existing knowledge in AI is highly recommended.

      Taipei Medical University (TMU), 600 meters away from the world’s tallest green building - Taipei 101 building, has been a leader in Taiwan’s healthcare system for more than half a century due to its research, teaching excellence, internationalization and outstanding medical service. TMU has seven colleges including College of Medicine, College of Oral Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Public Health and Nutrition, College of Nursing, College of Medical Science and Technology and College of Humanities and Social Sciences and owns three Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited hospitals with a total capacity of over 3,100 beds. TMU has several top-notch research centers such as Center of Excellence for Cancer Research, Center of Excellence for Clinical Trial and Research in Neuroscience, Center of Excellence for Stroke Research, Center of Excellence for Biomedical Implants and Microsurgery Devices. TMU collaborates with many international prestigious universities and institutes on cancer, neurotrauma, nanotechnology and 3D printing research such as National Institutes of Health, Johns Hopkins University, University of Southampton, University of Dundee, University of Liverpool, Aarhus University, University of Washington, University of Tokyo, Academia Sinica, and National Health Research Institutes.

      TMU’s commitment to internationalisation has resulted in 36,000 alumni improving healthcare systems in over100 countries around the world.       VIOLATIONS

      If you are found in violation of the Terms and Conditions or Honor Code, you may be subject to one or more of the following actions:

      • Receiving a zero or no credit for an assignment;

      • Having any certificate earned in the course withheld or revoked;

      • Being unenrolled from a course, learning program or degree program; or

      • Termination of your use of the App and/or Site.

      • Additional actions may be taken at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica and eLearnAfrica course providers. 

      No refunds will be issued in the case of any corrective action for such violations.

      Honor code violations will be determined at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica, the Partners, or Members. You will be notified if a determination has been made that you have violated this honor code and you will be informed of the corresponding action to be taken as a result of the violation.
